I favor Izady’s maps because of their tremendous resolution, often five times the width of the typical PC monitor. This particular map, focused on Lebanon and the Alawite area in Syria, was derived from that large map, with the legend resized to fit with the area I wanted to highlight. There are many derivatives like this and in general the maker’s mark does not survive the editing down to focus on a specific area. It would be incorrect to credit each one to Izady by copying his mark as they deviate so far from the original work. I have chosen to recognize my use of his very important contribution with this page on the masthead of my site.
